Meet Anthony yanez

Meet our Master of Ceremonies, Anthony Yanez!

​

Anthony Yanez is a two-time Emmy award-winning meteorologist that you can find anchoring weekdays on KPRC 2 News Today and KPRC 2 News Midday.


Anthony is the 2022 recipient of the American Meteorological Society’s award for Excellence inScience Reporting by a Broadcast Meteorologist, and the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California awarded him the Best Weathercast in 2020. He is a member of the AMS Station Scientist Committee.


Yanez holds seals of approval with prominent weather organizations, including the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA). His passion is not only presenting an accurate forecast but also explaining why we are getting the weather we get. This focus sets him apart from other forecasters.


Anthony is an active community member who is passionate about teaching youth about his profession. He is a published author of the children’s book 'A Wild Ride on the Water Cycle, A Jake and Alice Adventure,' a tale of two water drops.

Yanez was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Mass Communications from the University of New Mexico. He earned his broadcast meteorology certificate from Mississippi State University.


Yanez is a sports enthusiast and has competed in cycling races, triathlons, and half marathons. He also enjoys golf, tennis, and skiing. Anthony is married to Rebecca, who is a Zeta and a past president of the local ZTA chapter, Houston Alumnae Association. Together they have five children ranging from 9-29.
