GUEST SPEAKER, Naoto T. Ueno, M.D., Ph.D., FACP, the Executive Director for the Morgan Welch Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Program.

Dr. Ueno is a professor of Breast Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He also serves as executive director of MD Anderson’s Morgan Welch Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Program and Clinic and section chief of Translational Breast Cancer Research.
He earned his medical degree at Wakayama Medical College in Japan and completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, followed by a clinical fellowship at MD Anderson focusing on medical oncology and blood and marrow transplantation. He also holds a doctorate degree in cancer biology from the MD Anderson UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Ueno’s research focuses on developing therapeutics for patients with breast cancer and ovarian cancer. He has expertise in EGFR/ERK signaling and chemotherapy sensitivity, along with extensive clinical experience treating inflammatory breast cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, and metastatic disease. His research team studies cancer stem cells and the tumor microenvironment to better understand the aggressiveness of cancer.
